Youths reinforce their Capacities in Reports and Minutes Writing

Over 21 youths gathered on Saturday 19th September, 2015 under the leadership of WDYP as host, trainer and facilitator for a workshop organized by the ‘Groupe D’Actions Pour le Developpement’ (GAD) on reports and minutes writing.

According to Cyrille Tipane Mbara, founder of GAD, ‘‘the workshop was aimed at building the capacity of its members and that of civil society actors as a whole as far as report and minutes writing is concerned.’’

In the workshop that was attended by representatives of diverse civil society organizations, Fabrice Pokam, Communications Officer of the WDYP and acting spokes person of the president of the organization reiterated the fact that “the World Dynamics of Young People does not only act in her capacity as a patron for the GAD but equally as that of the youths with regards to her nature of being a vocational training school-oriented organization. By implication, the WDYP provides a platform for capacity building and reinforcement of potentials in all domains that may be of importance to the growth and development of the country in one way or the other. Consequently it is just natural that such an event should be hosted within her premises”.

Taking in to consideration the general and specific importance of reports and minutes in all well structured organizations and institutions, the GAD under the umbrella of the WDYP thought it wise to lay emphasis on five main aspects;

  • The difference between a report, minutes and a statement.
  • The different types of reports and when to use them.
  • Things to take in to consideration when taking minutes and the different stages involved.
  • Things to take into consideration when writing a report and the stages involved.
  • How to situate the content of a report within a particular activity.

As such, under the moderation of Jessica Neh, an intern at the WDYP, and the guidance of Marcelle Metala, Michel Fokou and Cyril Tipane, staff at the WDYP, and coordinator of the GAD respectively who acted as facilitators during the workshop, participants were sure to have reinforced their capacity as far as report and minutes writing is concerned at the end of the workshop. To concretize the workshop, participants were challenged to practice the knowledge acquired within their various structures by attending the upcoming public conference on the presentation of the results of the essay writing national contest on the obstacles of democracy in Cameroon, scheduled for Thursday September 24 2015 at the Protestant University of Central Africa.
